ABSTRACT

The subject of enterprise and entrepreneurial education in a Higher and Further educational context has been increasingly discussed and interpreted in the academic and practitioner literature. The discussion usually centres around the need for educational establishments to be more enterprising in the way they approach the learning experience of students whether that is independently or in collaboration with business or professional bodies. This chapter is principally concerned with the role of the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) in developing enterprising curricula and a student’s sense of obvious. Since 2012, the SIE has encouraged students to be aware of their inner creative potential and through a series of case studies, the chapter will illustrate how the experiences of those students who had reached their sense of obvious has been met with entrepreneurial success, achieved through engagement with enterprising and entrepreneurial activities in higher and further education.
