ABSTRACT

Counselor training programs take place in multiple environments. Face-to-face classrooms, virtual classrooms, and hybrid class constellations are all common options for students. In order to be effective as a teacher regardless of the setting, counselor educators must consider communication variables, such as peer-teacher and peer-peer interaction, meanings, and messages. Content will also include exploration of common challenges such as cyber civility. This chapter includes what role these variables play in the teaching and learning process. Information will include the implications for course development, content delivery, skill acquisition, and student assessment in relation to the educational environment.
