ABSTRACT

Mental health professionals who are providing services in collaboration with primary health care are well-positioned to contribute to science in this burgeoning area. This chapter is written for the clinician-scientist who is engaged in such collaborative practice regardless of model (e.g., distinct but collaborative practices, co-located practice, fully integrated, etc.), and whose primary responsibility is clinical service delivery. This chapter explores and discusses the utility and application of Implementation Science (IS) methods in addressing key questions in this area. In addition, this chapter discusses pragmatics regarding data collection strategies, IRB and HIPAA concerns, publication outlets, and creating clinical release time to do research.
