ABSTRACT
Regulatory authorities in Hong Kong now require all listed companies to include a corporate governance report (as part of their annual reports) and have issued guidelines as to what such reports should include. This chapter details part of a larger study that is investigating the structure and language of this written register based on a one million-word corpus of 217 reports from the Hong Kong Corpus of Corporate Governance Reports. The study identifies and discusses the major moves and, based on the most frequent phraseologies found in a sample of the major sub-corpora, identifies and discusses sub-functions found in the moves.
