ABSTRACT

Norah is the musically gifted one of the seven Betrand siblings. She had taken violin lessons in London and by her own admission, plays ‘beautifully’, but had to give up lessons when her family moved. She is delighted when a neighbor arranges for her to take lessons with his violinist sister. Within three years she becomes ‘a performer of no mean attainments’ whose goal is to attend the Royal College of Music for further study (p. 354).
