ABSTRACT

The international system being in a state of flux, all major powers are trying to define the fluid situation in a manner that would safeguard their interests in keeping with their military and economic capabilities. The US recognises that there is a changing distribution of power because of the emergence of new global and regional powers, and the growing number of state and non-state actors. And yet, the US insists that it ‘remains the world’s pre-eminent power’ and wants to play that role.
