ABSTRACT

This chapter is organized in three parts: an epistemological analysis, a methodological synthesis, and the unitas multiplex. In each part, questions are posed and paths for an answer are sought. The questions are: (1) What is the scientific status of forensic science and the science of crime (i.e., criminology)? (2) Can we define the concrete type of scientific inquiry that specifies these two disciplines? How are they related tothe scientific method in general? (3) What are the emergence and possible conditions for aunitas multiplex of these two disciplines? How can they constitute an epistemic catalyst for a science of human behaviour?
