ABSTRACT

Bill Bowers is an actor and mime who has performed throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. As a creator of original work, he investigates the role that silence plays in our lives. In this interview, Bowers discusses his creative process, including action and essence, motifs, and triggers – some kind of accent or moment in a story that triggers an emotional response. He discusses his 2011 solo show Beyond Words, which focuses on the journey from Boyhood to Manhood, and also his group piece, Johnny Got His Gun, the story of a soldier who is unable to move or speak.
