ABSTRACT
This chapter escribes concepts of death and afterlife in some major branches of Hindu thought. These include Vedic, Upanishadic, Dharmic, Bhakti, Tantric, and folk forms of Hinduism. Where appropriate, the descriptions will include major texts, rituals, and beliefs in supernatural beings.
