Tales of Edith
In this short, well-crafted chapter of reminiscences, we see Edith from many angles. We see her first in the “Art for the Art Therapist” class, as Patti tries to avoid revealing herself – no easy task with the astute and somewhat intimidating founder of our profession. We move through other classes and memories, to the lovely description of Edith’s Christmas celebration. Eventually, Patti leaves school, but their relationship continues – Edith painting with Patti’s husband, or Edith coming to their home to create family portraits. This chapter is “a beautiful, magical celebration, memorable for being on a natural and human scale…” filled with wisdom, wit, and delight, much as Edith, herself, was. The reader will easily join Patti in missing Edith.
