ABSTRACT

For scholars, performers and teachers today, a wide range of sources dedicated to women composers offers information on these figures and their music to an extent undreamt of in the past. The bibliography that follows represents an attempt to consolidate some of the main sources, listing items we consider of particular interest for the study of women’s Lieder. We hope that it will help facilitate access to the repertoire for those seeking women’s Lieder to teach and to perform. Encompassing a variety of editions and literature that reflect scholarly research in this area, the bibliography is also designed to provide a stepping stone for scholars embarking on research in the field. And we hope that it may thereby inspire new directions in research, including performance-based research.
