Integration and the Protection of Immigrants: Canadian–Nordic Comparisons

ByPatricia Daenzer, Paul Van Aerschot, Tim Rees

Immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers arrive at their new destinations through very different motivations, political circumstances and histories. They, however, bring similar needs to their new countries including the need for social acceptance, physical and emotional security and opportunity for self-reliance. This chapter examines how the four nations featured in this volume provide the essentials for the process of post-migration social integration.
