ABSTRACT
The legal profession has been affected by the information revolution of the past 20 years more than most professions. After many centuries of dependence on books and paper, there has been a shift towards an important, or possibly predominant, role for electronic information in legal practice and scholarship. By its very nature, electronic information is subject to continuous change; even more than paper it requires guarantees of authenticity and authoritativeness.
