ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the several energy-related issues from the summits, most notably fossil fuel subsidies and carbon prices, were considered in the green growth area and were excluded from the calculations on energy. It reviews the progress in G20B20 engagement in order to identify achievements and challenges. Commitments and mandates are drawn from the G20 leaders' documents issued at the summit according to a single methodology and consistent approach. In terms of policy areas, the B20's recommendations on reform of the international monetary system, macroeconomic policies, and financial regulation, which all belong to the G20's core mission, have registered the greatest correlation with G20 decisions. The investment study group declared its preparedness to explore the scope for deeper dialogue with private sector participants to better understand their perspectives on financing for investment. The B20 recommendations on financial regulation for the Toronto Summit were generally in line with G20 priorities.
