Patterns of Women’s Religious Attachments

ByEun Sim Joung

This chapter1 describes patterns of women’s religious attachments which emerged from a qualitative study of women’s affective and relational aspects of faith experiences. Attachment is recognized as one of the distinctive qualities and characteristics of women, although the importance of attachment in their affective and relational life, particularly in relation to faith experiences, has been less valued in existing, cognitively based, faith development theories. The aim of my research study was to find a way to describe women’s manner of faith experiences, hoping to provide a coherent and convincing account of the roots and characteristics of women’s faith experiences.
