ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in this book. The book demonstrates the industry might have shifted and changed, but writers are still breaking in, going from emerging to professional, on a regular basis. Writers out there are working hard, developing their craft, reaching for those original ideas, trying to set themselves apart. They are applying to television writing programs, feature writing fellowships and labs and submitting their completed materials to screenwriting competitions as well as listing it on The Black List website. A career in screenwriting comes with high competition, but also serious rewards: if one staff on television and make it to the second season or their next show, if screenwriters sell a spec screenplay or make it onto The Black List and land writing assignments from there on. Michael Perri is a dramatic writer who was born Emmanuel Pedro, until his adoptive parents changed his name when he was ten.
