ABSTRACT

Dramatic changes in world economy and politics have undoubtedly proved that China is one of the countries in the world which have benefited most from globalization. The globalization of culture also means prompting localization or glocalization, which in turn redefines and reconfigures the hidden empire in a local context. Since globalization is also a concept translated or imported from the West to China, it is undoubtedly marked by its strong West-centric hegemonic sense. Globalization has indeed impacted upon all of aspects of contemporary Chinese people's life and work. The popularization of English has of course both positive and negative sides. Globalization has involved virtually all countries and nations. Globalization has certainly brought to China very precious opportunities of development. Although the rise of China economically and politically is an undeniable fact, its literature and culture are not so influential in the current world.
