ABSTRACT

The traditional modes of recruitment are no longer bearing fruit and hence it becomes imperative for organizations to rethink their recruitment strategies. For this purpose, social recruiting is a promising tool where an organization attempts to invest in peoples' social networks, thereby reaping social currency. The social media network works on the principle of social exchange theory. Organizations are advised to also look at social penetration theory in alignment with social exchange theory to devise a targeted social recruitment strategy using approximate tools best suited to the purpose. Social media have become a part of business strategies and can act as a reservoir for recruitment. Social recruiting is a new but promising mode of hiring and recruitment that present day organizations are adopting to connect with younger generations. The advancement of technology, information and communication makes it essential for organizations to take this medium of recruitment seriously.
