University Presidents as Wise Leaders? Aristotle's Phrónêsis and Academic Leadership in Germany

The task of combining the concept of practical wisdom with the concept of university leadership is threefold. Firstly and generally, the chapter tries to mobilize conceptual evidence for the claim that it is a valuable endeavour for organizational research to describe university leadership in terms of the ancient concept of (practical) wisdom. Hence, it will investigate possible conceptual insights through applying the notion of wisdom to the current roles and tasks of university presidents in Germany.
