ABSTRACT

The increasing impact of online reviews on hotel reservation intentions and the perception of trust in these opinions among users highlight the need for further and deeper research into the concept of e-WOM. Over the last few years, there has been an intense debate in the professional sphere on the fact that TripAdvisor accepts opinions without checking whether users have actually stayed at the establishment unlike Booking, which only allows comments to be uploaded by users who have in fact stayed at the hotel. This study aims to verify whether there are differences in the scores on the two platforms. The results of the comparative analysis reveal that the hotel reputation scores do not differ significantly.
