The Garden of Hybrid Delights: Looking at the Intersection of Art, Science and Technology
My work has formed four distinct cycles.1 Each cycle is the result of about five years of multi-faceted explorations within the framework of a specific theme and through a variety of media. Although there are notable threads of symbols, phenomena, topics, forms and methods passing through the cycles, each cycle is conceptually cohesive and distinct. I will tackle the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the evolution of research elements in my artistic practice through a case study treatment of some of my works from the four work cycles. Focusing on questions of artistic method, context, documenting and archiving will allow me to address some broader issues and problems regarding the ‘ICT-enabled’ arts.
