Epilogue: Towards Designing Augmented Places

On the 8th of September 2007, Beppe Grillo, an Italian comedian beloved by many and well known for his satirical portrayal of the establishment, managed to bring thousands of people into many Italian squares, to support three proposals for changing the laws regulating the election and tenure of Italian MPs. The event, whose main stage was in the city of Bologna’s main central square – the Piazza Maggiore – had been named by Grillo “V-Day”, where the “V” – far from meaning “victory” – was an abbreviation of something very similar to the “f-word” insult in English.
