ABSTRACT

Because of the nature of the subject matter of this chapter, the focus is on academic environments, rather than commercial legal information services, but many of the points discussed may be equally applicable in the commercial sector. Hemming (2008)1 discusses a number of surveys conducted in law firms, which show that many law firms are actively investing in e-learning as a means of training their staff, so while the examples considered in this chapter are taken from higher education institutions, there is no reason why the principles could not be applied to the law firm sector.
