Academic libraries and librarians inhabit the intersection of three industries in the midst of massive disruptions-publishing, higher education, and academic libraries. As defined by Clay Christensen and Michael Radnor:
Over the past 10 to 15 years these disruptions to the academic library have continued and gained speed. In the academic library, all aspects of our operations have been affected, but one of the most obvious is the impact that these disruptions have had on the use of space in academic libraries and how we think about that space.
