ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the obstacles and opportunities resulting from the activation of the Logistics Command of Operations Area (CLAO) during Ágata Operation IV to VII. The CLAO allowed for a continuous improvement of the Defence Ministry's doctrine and the establishment of new recommendations from the analysis of final reports and after-action reports of the operations. The Defence Ministry approved the Doctrine of Joint Operations (Manual MD30-F-01) in December 2011 after Ágata Operations I to III; this is an important landmark since the manuals include doctrinal support that provides consistent guidance to participants in these operations. This doctrine foresees the activation, when required, of the CLAO to coordinate and execute logistical support in the Operations Area. The preliminary logistical preparation of the Operations Area is conducted in two phases: developing a detailed plan, and pre-positioning logistical resources to support the operations carried out by the Component Forces.
