ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explains the emigration of Russian economists can consequently be seen as one way of escaping from this type of governmental wrath, as was a straightforward conformity to doctrinal orthodoxy. American economists who have fallen foul of political orthodoxy have sometimes lost their jobs, or have even committed suicide under critical pressure, but none have been deliberately assassinated. Only leading American politicians have been so treated. The specific mix of the adaptation regarding the balance of Western and native Russian ideas were invariably unique, but this does not quite constitute the existence of a Russian school of economic thinking. In truth, what winding avenues Russian economics will explore in the future is of course unknown, but what is certain is that it will be building upon a rich tradition of analysis.
