Cyprus: The Women’s Cooperative Bank
This case study aims to show how a woman’s vision of giving Cypriot women a dynamic place in the Cypriot economy led to the creation and development of a successful, sustainable organization. The Women’s Cooperative Bank (http:// www.womenscoopbank.com.cy/) is a non-profit organization established to provide support to female entrepreneurial activities through easier access to finance. The Women’s Coop was established in 2000 and acquired the necessary regulatory authorities’ charter in June 2001 (the regulatory authority in this case is the Central Cooperativ e bank: http://www.coopbank.com.cy/). The complete program for the support of female entrepreneurship started in 2003 and is still very actively in place.
