United Kingdom: Can Issues of Poverty be Addressed through the Emergence of Relationally Embedded Social Franchises?

In this chapter we will present a nov el interorganizational form that we recommend as an alternativ e to tackling issues of poverty alleviation and sustainable entrepreneurship. The fatal weaknesses of the public sector to satisfy social needs have redefined the relationship betw een the state and the individual, and entrepreneurial activity has been pulled to the third sector, leading to the emergence of new organizational forms like social enterprises (Defourny and Nyssens, 2010b).
