Women War Survivors in Uganda: Resilience and Suffering as Consequences of War

Women’s health needs are a fundamental human right, as affirmed at the cairo and beijing world conferences on women (Peters and Wolper, 1995). this chapter recommends that to be successful holistic health interventions for women wartorture survivors need to be combined with gender specific health policies, effective poverty reduction strategies, increased equity and long-term sustainable improvements in health care, as well as further social, economic, legal and political empowerment of women.
