ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a new model for future management thinking. The Eltville model has been developed and used in almost a thousand interactions with top management teams. It is a profound and practical model used to resolve futures confusions and to see more and understand more of the future. The futures glasses are a model simple enough to provide a complete framework for thinking and acting in practice. Assumption analysis, the working step taken in the first workshop, serves to identify, question, complete and substantiate the future assumptions on probable developments in the environment. Strategy development meant to define strategy questions, to elaborate goal candidates, to rate and rank them according to their suitability to achieve the vision, to describe the best goals. Managers and entrepreneurs often consider futures research and the related trend research as imprecise, non-committal and unreliable.
