ABSTRACT
Introduction This chapter provides an introduction to transport planning and policy making, before summarising socioeconomic trends that may have an impact on them and identifying innovative solutions to address accessibility issues in Europe. Specifically, the chapter lists and defines strategies for integrating and optimising transport systems based on the results of the project, and capitalising on the insights and outcomes from the METPEX studies.
