ABSTRACT
Introduction This chapter addresses the potential socioeconomic impact and wider societal implications of the project to date, the main dissemination activities and exploitation of the results, with each section highlighting contributions and recommendations. The document first addresses gender and ethical issues both within the project, wider academia and the transport domain. It then addresses areas of socioeconomic impact, covering economic factors and areas which service providers, transport operators local and transport authorities should address, particularly with regard to accessibility. We briefly indicate the social and political consequences of the project, before touching on its impact on technology provision. Finally we signal the direction indicated for research, and levels of impact that might be achieved. In each section we identify the contribution METPEX has made and, where appropriate, make recommendations. Out of these considerations a number of overall recommendations emerge.
