ABSTRACT

This chapter intends to discuss the concept of pollution and corruption (fasad) from an Islamic perspective. The unity of universe, humanity and destiny dictates the need of a transformational global leadership to address the potential threats of climate change. The global debate on climate change needs to be informed by Islamic discourse of trusteeship (amanah). Islamic worldviews on economic development and finance can be of value to inform current global debate with respect to key policy issues like finance, equity and global governance. Besides, a Green Jihad-Ijtihad-Zuhd (JIZ) model will be presented as an Islamic perspective on climate change.
