ABSTRACT

In reference to the many changes that occur in the military, one of the most frequent changes in the author's career has been the number of leaders he have worked for while serving as a traditional guardsman in the Air National Guard. A specific example of how things change frequently and evolve in the military environment occurred at the beginning of the fiscal year, October 1, 2015: Air National Guard members who have aspirations to reach the rank of E-8 or E-9 will have to earn a two-year associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. This requirement is in addition to continuous upgrade training, the mandatory professional military education requirement, the obligation to stay physically fit, and the need to remain proficient in their respective career fields. This chapter presents an interview of Colonel Edward Black on leadership and change management in military training programs taken by the author.
