ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book arise a frustration with the lack of resources that are available to address mental health issues in the workplace and out of the experience of being unable to even get workplaces to discuss mental health and what it would take to create mentally healthy workplaces. Despite the best efforts of many, mental illness and mental health remain taboo topics and persons with these issues continue to feel the stigma. More and more places of work and society require all of us to look to our own mental health. Society and workplaces have for years focused on providing physically safe environments but have ignored the mental environment. Some governments have grown impatient with worksites and their lack of efforts in this regard and are placing mental health safety and compensation into Workers' Compensation legislation.
