ABSTRACT
The Amsterdam Museum has, like many other city museums, a history of exhibitions and events around migration, ethnicities and identities. This chapter presents examples of the way the Amsterdam city museum has dealt with roots, routes and places in its galleries, exhibition programme and events in the past decades. I will discuss the museum policy but also the dilemmas in the daily practice of museum work.
