A Participatory Approach to Ethnographic Research with Victims of Gross Human Rights Violations: Studying Families of the Disappeared in Post-conflict Nepal

Participatory research methods have increasingly become orthodox in empirical studies in both development and post-war recovery. In the development context in particular participatory approaches have been successful in not only learning about problems and needs from a grassroots viewpoint, but in developing solutions to address them. Whilst some of these approaches do not necessarily translate well into work with conflict victims, this volume demonstrates the success with which participatory methods are now being used in post-conflict environments.
