ABSTRACT
This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book aims to bring together some of the most recent work within the area of patient safety culture and to reflect some of current debates and discussions which dominate the field of safety culture within patient safety. It is also aims at not only other researchers, but also practitioners working in hospitals and other healthcare settings. In order to meet the needs of both audiences, the book is organised along the lines of three main themes: theory, methods and application. It provides in-depth coverage of safety culture, as well as patient safety culture. The book provides accounts of the range of methods and tools used to measure patient safety culture, as well as some of the techniques which are used to assess their efficacy.
