chapter  9
Studying Immigrant Entrepreneurs: From Ordinary to Big Players in the Transnational Capitalist Class
Pages 20

This chapter examines and assesses the various qualitative methodologies that researchers use, or could use, to study elite immigrant entrepreneurs. Most of them are ordinary business owners, whereas a few are part of the Canadian elite or global super-elite. Gaining access to elites, by virtue of who they are, can be difficult for researchers (Hertz and Imber 1995a: viii). Nevertheless, as other chapters in this volume and the literature demonstrate, researchers can overcome the difficulties and barriers to elite access.
