ABSTRACT
Research focused on how cognitive, metacognitive or other cultural factors relate to students’ academic performance in East Asian countries has grown tremendously in recent decades. With the rapid development in various aspects (cultural, economic, political and technological) in East Asian countries during the past twenty years, a lot of new research work and empirical findings to this promising line of research have emerged.
