The role of ICT in economic growth: the case of Andhra Pradesh
The twenty-fi rst century is the age of information explosion, due to advance of information and communication technology (ICT) affecting various phases of human life. ICT is transforming rural lives in the information era. ICT is designated as a facilitator tool to fi ght against poverty and its negative outcomes. It is a tool to provide developing nations with an unprecedented opportunity to meet vital development goals such as poverty reduction, basic health care and education, more effectively than ever before. ICT will increase agricultural production in rural areas. It is giving scope for the rural poor to enhance the sources of income for their upliftment and social security. The introduction of ICT has brought revolutionary change in the economic and socio-structure of rural poor. It is providing opportunities for applying the new ICT techniques in bringing the change in rural India.
