ABSTRACT

This paper applied a dynamic model to simulate transport of sediment and four trace metals (cadmium, copper, lead, and zinc) in Deep Bay. The results indicated that the whole bay was under sedimentation, and most heavy metals from river inflow mainly deposited in river mouth. However, metals were unevenly distributed in neighbored areas and heavily accumulated in some sensitive areas. The results could be used for interpreting why the ecological degradation in Mai Po Marshes was worse than its adjacent area, Futian National Nature Reserve.
