ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts of the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on college and career readiness that was grounded in scientific research. It finds the major themes which include: Multidimensional definitions, Improved prediction, Malleability, and Personalized feedback and improved decision-making. The book discusses the importance of validity evidence for informing definitions of college and career readiness. College- and career-readiness definitions used to rely solely on content claims developed by subject matter experts (SMEs). College- and career-readiness diagnoses and feedback should be personalized and nuanced, because personalization improves decision-making. The book focuses on the use and implications of college- and career-readiness performance levels for institutions of higher education and for diverse student populations. It identifies themes which include: college readiness versus career readiness, content-empirical evidence continuum, equity concerns over misclassification, and coherence of feedback.
