ABSTRACT

Communication Yearbook began as an annual review sponsored by the International Communication Association. Transaction Books, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, published the first five volumes of the series. The founding volumes edited by Brent Rubin (Rutgers, State University of New Jersey) were organized first by their inclusion of disciplinary-wide reviews and commentaries. A second means of facilitating synthesis was annual “overviews” prepared by ICA division chairs or their designee to examine the trends in theory and research in their subdomains. Finally, the book included competitively selected original research studies presented at the annual conference of the International Communication Association.
