ABSTRACT

High-quality psychological assessment requires the use of high-quality measurement instruments. Assessment and measurement are vital to research and practice in all of psychology. School psychology researchers might want to branch out and publish their assessment- and measurement-focused studies outside of "major" school psychology journals. This chapter describes several important assessment and measurement journals in psychology and education. It reviews a list of journals from Clarivate Analytics' Journal Citation Reports, which included journal statistics from eight categories relevant to school psychology. The categories include educational psychology, developmental psychology, clinical psychology, education and educational research, special education, multidisciplinary psychology, applied psychology, and family studies. School psychology researchers are less likely to publish in measurement journals than they are in assessment journals. Further, research findings published in these journals should be used by school psychology researchers to improve technical aspects of their own measurement and assessment research.
