ABSTRACT

School psychologists publish in a wide range of journals outside the field of school psychology, including clinical child and pediatric psychology journals as well as journals in medicine and prevention science. This chapter reviews clinical, pediatric, and medical journals that might serve as an outlet for the scholarly activities of school psychologists. Although there are high volumes of journals in these areas, we identified a sample of journals with a wide range of impact factors, levels of difficulty with regard to acceptance, and types of articles published in order to increase the relevance of the chapter for school psychologists with diverse interests in publication. School psychologists might decide that their work can have the greatest impact on science, practice, and policy by publishing in these types of journals. The chapter concludes by outlining a series of factors to consider in identifying potential publication outlets and prioritizing among journal options.
