Pages 10

The 1980s brought a new wave of peace movement dynamism, and for some folks who are in their middle years today, those heady times were defining moments in their development as social and political activists. The names of William Sloane Coffin Jr., Helen Caldicott, Cora Weiss, Monica Green, David Cortright, Betsy Taylor, Pam Solo, Randy Kehler, and Randy Forsberg must be added to the long list of movement leaders and luminaries of the past because these women and men provided leadership during an exciting, turbulent, and history-changing decade. These visionary scholars and activists gave the peace movement of the 1980s voice, direction, and stature.
