ABSTRACT
We know the statistics on the prevalence, distribution, and possible effects of the HIV epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. Apart from Uganda, very few countries have yet succeeded in reversing the epidemic. Statistics show the disproportionate impact the epidemic has in sub-Saharan Africa compared to other continents and particularly on young women—the backbone, the heart, the soul of our communities—and on children, the future of our societies.
