ABSTRACT

For the pilot study we considered the Freon family of products given its fairly well-defined selling season, its sourcing from multiple suppliers and its fairly steady sales rate. These characteristics fit the assumptions of our model and made interpretation of our findings straightforward. All purchasing and sales transactions for 2013 for two Freon part numbers were extracted to .csv files (R22 representing 52.5 percent of unit sales and R410A representing 47.5 percent; from seven sources, nine DCs and 750 customers). We used a pivot table to extract sales per month to verify high-demand season. April through July mark the high-demand season for Freon.
