ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I will share stories of two clients from my practice in Singapore who found creative and unique solutions through therapy: one case of severe anxiety and the other relating to the devastation over the break-up of a long-term relationship. They demonstrate how signifi cant it is to uncover details of clients’ lives, not only to give context to solution building but also to ensure the client’s preferred outcome remains at the centre of the therapy. The ways in which the solution-focused (SF) approach of gathering details remains respectful of and adaptable to the Asian cultural context will also be discussed.
